My name is Bethany Warne, a local girl from Ham ward, and I am a boxer who trains at Devonport Amateur Boxing Club. I dedicate a lot of my time to training at the boxing gym, and maintaining my fitness through running outside of training times. As well as this, I help to teach and develop the younger kids who train at our gym, so as you can tell I am very passionate about the sport. In the last boxing season, I managed to make my way to the semi final of the Junior ABAs (along the way becoming the Western Counties Champion,) but in the current season I have come on and stepped up which led to me becoming the NABGC female national champion at 57kg (in class B.) To get to where I am has taken (and will continue to take) a lot of time and effort but I have had the support of Norpro training to help me along the way; which I have been entirely grateful for during the last 2 and a half years. Not only do they support me by attending my fights and always believing in me, but they help provide all my essential kit I need to train and succeed.
Norpro Training Ltd will be starting a brand new Carpentry Skills Befriending Group that will provide instruction in use of social networking media whilst delivering a bespoke carpentry programme. Our goal is to be a companion course similar to coffee mornings (meet and greet,) Sewing Clubs etc. We can provide the opportunity to make items out of wood.
Our aim is to build bird boxes, bird feeder tables, planters, garden furniture; name it, you can do it. We will ask you and the group what you would like to undertake and tailor our basic joinery skills package accordingly, including use of common woodwork tools and techniques suited to your capabilities, whilst encouraging natural befriending, self-confidence and a sense of achievement and wellbeing.
We would also include vital IT skills to show the older generations the forms of basic communication through social networking via Face-book, twitter etc. and how to use the World Wide Web
The project will run for 12 months (50 weeks)
